Youth Climate Action Network
Youth CAN (Climate Action Network) is aimed at empowering young individuals aged 14 to 30 to embark on career and educational development in the environmental space. With a vision to inspire the next generation, this committee plans to offer a mentorship program, career talks, and opportunities to support climate policy.
LEADERSHIP
Francesca Mills
Francesca is an interdisciplinary student and Presidential Scholar at Scripps College, one of the Claremont Colleges.
Francesca grew up in Mendocino, where she developed a love for the environment and dedication to youth empowerment and the fight against climate change.
After participating in numerous environmental clubs and completing two California Technical Education certificates, Francesca graduated as the valedictorian of Mendocino High School.
Francesca’s passion for environmental sustainability is reflected in her role as an Assistant Researcher at the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability. She has also worked with organizations like the Noyo Center and Ecology Action as both a natural science intern, environmental communicator and docent. Additionally, Francesca has governmental experience as a fellow at the California Energy Commission under Commissioner Andrew McAllister, as well as with Sonoma County Government’s Regional Climate Protection Authority.
In her free time, Francesca loves to cook tasty food, explore nature with her botanical journal, and go camping or thrifting with friends.
