MISSION

The Healthy Oceans Committee aims to raise awareness of the urgent issues of climate change and the human-made environmental hazards that threaten our ocean and the waterways and estuaries that feed into it. Hoping to inspire a sense of stewardship and concern for the ocean and our local marine and coastal wildlife, we will hold occasional public presentations and field trips with expert lectures and discussions. By engaging with outside organizations such as The Surfrider Foundation, Heal the Bay, the California Coastal Commission, as well as individuals from local and regional governments, we hope to ensure that our combined efforts will help us become better advocates of restoring balance. At whatever level, we very much welcome and appreciate your interest and participation! For more information or if you have any questions, please email laclimatereality@gmail.com.

Dale Richard Howard

Dale attended the first virtual Climate Reality Leadership training in 2020 and was quick to join the LA Chapter. A native of Los Angeles, Dale grew up near the beach in an artistic household that placed a very high value on the earth and all its inhabitants, setting the course for a life filled with a love of the arts and nature. Introduced to the basic principles of Biodynamic gardening and composting while attending Highland Hall, a Waldorf school, he later maintained a small urban farm at his home in Culver City. During that time, he launched a successful campaign to stop the oil industry from fracking directly under the homes in his neighborhood, despite their generous cash incentives. The experience taught him the value of taking action locally and fighting the good fight. While he enjoyed a long career as a software developer before becoming a serial entrepreneur, Dale has also enjoyed working as an actor, writer, and director for the stage and the screen. He loves reading, hiking, yoga, martial arts, surfing, playing the piano, and hanging with his furry friends.
