Description:
As a global biodiversity hotspot, California is playing a key role in the world's achievement of our global nature goals. In 2022, we participated in the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) that resulted in the adoption of 23 Targets covering everything from plastic pollution to green spaces in cities. Our state government, California cities, and nonprofits played a pivotal role in global discussions. Now, in the lead up to the 2024 Biodiversity Conference (COP16), we have the opportunity to localize these global targets -- called the “Global Biodiversity Framework” and make them work for our communities. This virtual workshop is for people and organizations working for and with cities and other local communities and will cover the relevance of biodiversity and how to connect to global nature policy and make it work for local wins.
