Advocates of reducing the negative climate and health impacts of buildings got a setback this month when the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an appeal to protect Berkeley’s ban on gas in new buildings. This decision puts local electric-only new building rules like Pasadena's and Glendale's in jeopardy. But there are pathways to move forward and achieve our goals of healthy communities and reduced climate impacts by eliminating gas use in buildings.
We will use this zoom call to share an update on the status of local reach codes and some of the pathways available, and brainstorm our strategies going forward.
