The Los Angeles Chapter of Climate Reality is presenting another Speaker Training Bootcamp! Interested in honing your skills as a Climate Reality presenter? At the Speaker Training Bootcamp, you can learn strategies for building confidence, customizing the presentation material, mastering the technology and more. The training takes place in two parts: Sunday, November 7 (from 1:00-3:00pm Pacific time) and Sunday, November 21 (from 1:00-3:00pm Pacific time).

Matt Almos is a creative leader who develops and produces experiences for live theater and themed entertainment. Matt attended the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training in Atlanta in 2019, and has been giving lots and lots of presentations about the climate crisis ever since. MENTOR: Jeff Drongowski

Jeff Drongowski is a passionate advocate for a sustainable and equitable future for all. He currently leads the Community Engagement committee for Climate Reality Los Angeles. After growing up in Michigan, Jeff leveraged his multi-hyphenate creativity with success as an award-winning commercial photographer, sommelier, and sales professional. Jeff found his true calling in the Sustainability field and was trained by former Vice President Al Gore in 2018. He quickly found himself elected Co-Chair of the LA Chapter of the Climate Reality Project. Since then, Jeff has completed the Sustainability program at UCLA Extension and passed the LEED Green Associate exam and is currently looking to transition into a full-time position in purpose-driven Sustainability work. Jeff is also active with the US Green Building Council and Net Impact LA. Jeff believes in the power of showing up and stepping up and starting from wherever we are. He is committed to educating himself, expanding our collective network, and being a better activist for this movement and this endlessly inspiring chapter.

MENTOR: Lucy Garcia

Lucy Garcia taught climate change for 18 years in LAUSD as a science teacher. She worked with other forces in the city working for climate literacy, from non-profits like Alliance for Climate Education, PowerSave Schools, Sierra Club Beyond Coal, and Theodore Payne Foundation, to agencies of the school district like the Office of Sustainability Initiatives, and school garden leaders. Upon retiring in 2018, she began looking around at organizations teaching climate, and worked with national organizations, Climate Generation and with CLEANet.org. She was trained as a Climate Reality leader last summer and has presented many times since. Lucy is chair of the Climate Curricula Committee of the Climate Reality Project Los Angeles Chapter.

MENTOR: William Morris

MENTOR: William Morris

William Morris is currently working at Young Evangelicals for Climate Action (YECA) as a Field Organizer in Los Angeles, and he leads the Faith-Based Communities committee for Climate Reality Los Angeles. He holds a degree in environmental science with a focus on ecological restoration and works as an environmental missionary going into churches and engaging with them about climate justice and environmental stewardship from a theological perspective. William has also traveled to developing countries to do environmental surveying with faith-based organizations helping people meet environmental and physical needs. He believes that in order to fight the climate crisis, EVERYONE needs to be involved and be included in the conversation, regardless of faith.
