Action Alert: Tell the Governor to sign these bills

Governor Newsom is expected to sign AB 1866: Capping Idle Oil Wells, AB 3233: Local Control for Regulation of Oil and Gas Operations, and AB 2716: Baldwin Hills Oil Field- capping low production wells/fines at a ceremony in Baldwin Hills today.

Action Alert: Tell the L.A. City Council to Stop the Installation of Artificial Turf

Update September 25: the motion passed unanimously, but with some substitute text that weakened it. Please click here to read our response.

LA City Council is voting on an important artificial turf motion in Council File 24-0602, on Tuesday, 9/17 at 10AMThe motion calls for Los Angeles to move away from the use of artificial turf and towards drought-tolerant native plant landscaping. The City Council needs to hear from everyone that this motion is important and we need to pass it now.

 

Ways to Have Your Voice Heard:

 

1)  Attend the Council meeting in-person or phone in to make public comments on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 10 AM.

 

  • To provide in-person public comment—Attend the L.A. City Council meeting at L.A. City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, Room 340 (John Ferraro Council Chamber). We recommend arriving early to park and sign in to the kiosk in the back of the room. You can choose to sign up to speak on general public comment and agenda Item #12. (You can speak up to 1-minute per agenda item, and 1-minute for general public comment).

 

  • To phone in public comment via teleconference—call 1-669-254-5252 and use Meeting ID No. 160 535 8466, and then press #. Press # again when prompted for participant ID. Once admitted into the meeting, press *9 to request to speak. For more information, click here.

2)  By Close of business on Monday, 9/16 Click here, to urge LA City Council to end artificial turf. Send an email created by our partners at 5 Gyres to the councilmembers.

 

3)  Submit written public comment to the Council file ASAP to make sure it is posted in time for the meeting—go to  https://cityclerk.lacity.org/publiccomment/.
