LA Climate Reality Co-Authors White Paper on Infill Housing & Climate Change
LA Climate Reality contributed to a new white paper that presents a vision for a better, more sustainable, more equitable, and more affordable Los Angeles. Using infill housing strategies such as building on vacant lots, adding ADUs and modest multi-family buildings to historically exclusionary single-family neighborhoods, and converting underused commercial property to housing can simultaneously address our housing affordability and climate challenges.
The other authors of the white paper are Urban Environmentalists LA, Abundant Housing LA, Livable Communities Initiative, and Sunrise Movement LA.
Reducing urban sprawl has well-documented climate, air quality, and biodiversity benefits. By increasing infill housing in Los Angeles and other cities, we can allow people to live closer to work, make public transit options more effective, and spare more land for native plants and animals.
Our shared vision for Los Angeles includes robust tenant protections, abundant parks and public spaces, plentiful transit and mobility options, thriving native habitats, and more affordable homes. Infill housing is critical to making this vision a reality.

A white paper launch event is being held on Saturday, June 22, at 10am in Silver Lake. All are welcome. Click here to learn more.
