Action Alert: Help Us Pass Crucial Climate Legislation in California
Action: Tell Your State Legislators to Support These Important Climate Bills
We are approaching a floor vote on the Los Angeles & San Fernando Valley Chapter Climate Reality endorsed bills and we need your help to get them passed. It will only take a few minutes of your time, but your calls and emails to legislators are critically important. You can choose to call or email your legislators. There is no need to do both. If you call and no one answers, feel free to leave a message. Please complete this action this week, since votes may be scheduled for any day between now and June 2.
Here's what to do:
Find your representatives using this tool. Click on your Assembly member and Senator names- this will take you to their websites.
If you are emailing, click on "contact" to get a fillable form.
If you are calling, be sure to call the Sacramento office- it's usually at the bottom of the webpage and has a 916 area code.
Please see below for the bill numbers, authors and titles. If one of the bills has been written by your representative, you obviously don't need to tell him or her to vote yes. For example, if Assemblymember Gabriel is your representative you don't need to tell him to vote yes for AB1305 because he wrote it ; ) But definitely tell him we are supporting his bills when contacting other legislators.
For calls or emails to your Assembly member’s office: Tell the person who answers (or leave a voice mail) your name and your zip code and that you are a resident of the district. Then say “I am requesting that Assemblymember ___________________ vote "yes" on the following bills: AB 57, AB 1290, AB 1305, and AB 1572."
Repeat for your State Senator’s office: "I am requesting that Senator ___________________ vote "yes" on the following bills: SB 233, SB 244, SB 253, SB 261, SB 389, SB 499, and SB 707.”
Please share this action alert with your friends and family across California.
