In much of Los Angeles(LA) & northern Orange County(OC), the biggest environmental justice issue is oil & gas drilling, extraction, refining & petrochemical plants. But, east of the oil & gas fields (& chemical plants) clustered nearer the coast--air pollution becomes the biggest problem in most inland areas. The racial disparities are just as bad in Northern OC as near the LA oil and gas areas. But, in northern OC, bad regional air pollution is mostly made worse by diesel truck pollution, diesel trains, air traffic, and warehousing (logistics industry). So, this new proposed South Coast Air Quality Management District (SC AQMD) rule could really clamp down on the whole logistics industry which has been running amuck for decades.
